More updates to keep up with! That’s why we love Social Media, it constantly evolves and stays fresh. No time to get bored.
This time it is Twitter. The first one you must have seen if you’re a regular tweeter. The other 3, I’m not so sure.
1. Retweet with Comments
We approve! Have you ever tried to retweet in the desktop version of Twitter and try to add comments? A total pain! Unlike on your phone where you can ‘quote’ and add your thoughts.
Even better – you don’t have to faff with the original tweet to fit in all the characters. YEAY!
2. Direct Message without Following
Not so sure about this one. You used to have to be following each other to Direct Message. Now ANYONE can DM you, but only if you have allowed it in your Privacy Settings. I’m anticipating more junk messages than ever so will not be turning it on. However there is a strong point that a customer or potential customer may want to contact you in this way in which case it’s a good thing. How much of your customer service do you provide on Twitter? Will you be turning it on?
3. The Log-Out Screen
This is driving us mad. It hasn’t been a hit in this office at all. Before when we logged out the option was there to sign back in again. Useful to us as we log in and out of client’s accounts. Now all we get is ‘download the app’ screen. I’ve already got the app!
4. Abuse Policy Update
This is good stuff! You’ve probably heard some of the awful reports over the last few years of people being trolled and threatened on Twitter. Now Twitter are looking after their users with stronger protection rules around harassing and intimidating tweets that will not be tolerated. To read all about it see their Abusive Behaviour Policy.
